Arnold Schwarzenegger admitiu que teve um filho fora de seu casamento de 25 anos com Maria Shriver. A mãe do herdeiro do ator e ex-governador da Califórnia é uma empregada doméstica que trabalhou por mais de 20 anos na residência do casal.
Segundo o “TMZ", o caso aconteceu há mais de dez anos, mas o ator só revelou a novidade para sua ex-mulher no início deste ano. "Após deixar o cargo de governador, eu contei à minha mulher sobre este caso, que aconteceu há mais de uma década", dizia um comunicado do ator ao jornal "Los Angeles Times".
Acredita-se que a funcionária envolvida só parou de trabalhar para a família Schwarzenegger há cerca de quatro meses. A identidade da criança não foi revelada.
"Eu entendo e mereço os sentimentos de raiva e decepção dos meus amigos e familiares. Não há desculpas e eu assumo toda a responsabilidade pela dor que causei. Eu pedi desculpas a Maria, a meus filhos e à minha família. Estou realmente arrependido", completou o ator.
O casal se conheceu em 1977, durante um torneio de tênis, e casou-se nove anos depois, em Cape Cod. Na época, Maria era jornalista, na NBC, e o pretendente já era um astro do cinema. Os ex-pombinhos são pais de 4 filhos: Katherine, Christina, Patrick e Christopher.
